Mason Hearn
President & Founder

Mason Hearn
President & Founder
Mason’s professional building experience started at age 15, stripping wallpaper and other after-school renovation odd jobs for a neighbor in Fredericksburg, VA. A love of building and his degree in Architecture from UVA led to positions in commercial construction management then eventually, the founding of HomeMasons in 1993.
Mason has been actively involved in community and industry functions, founding the Central Virginia Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), where he recently retired as Chairman.
His commitment to the industry, community and business has been recognized by his being named:
- Chrysalis Virginia Remodeler of the Year
- Professional Remodeler Magazine’s National Remodeler of the Year
- Remodeling Magazine’s “Remodeling Hall of Fame” Big 50
- Qualified Remodeler in the Top 500 largest firms in the US.
His design-build firm, HomeMasons, has been recognized with dozens of project awards and featured in many local and national publications.
Mason has three grown children, five chickens, and lives on a farm in Manakin. He finds great joy in creatively re-thinking how a customer’s house may be made into a home, uniquely of their own.

Steffanie Atkins
Handyman Services Manager

Steffanie Atkins
Handyman Services Manager
Steffanie joined the HomeMasons family bringing with her the creative energy and reputation of her own business, Autumn Hunter Design. For Steffanie, the world of handyman services isn’t just about a checklist of repairs;it’s about the personal joy of making things pretty. Whether she’s doodling on her own walls at home or replacing countertops just for funsies, she approaches every project with a designer’s eye and a craftsman’s precision.
Her commitment to the craft is so deep that she frequently spends her spare time renovating her own home; not because it needs it, but for the pure thrill of the process. This passion for constant improvement and technical patience makes her the perfect lead for our Handyman division, where she ensures every small detail receives master-level care.
Family is the heart of Steffanie’s work; her “adult-ish” children, Kaya Autumn and Jackson Hunter, were the literal namesakes and inspiration for her original company. When she isn’t leading our field teams or rethinking a room’s aesthetic, she’s likely leaning into two of her most impressive claims to fame: she has never had a single soda in her life, and she is a proud, dedicated Swiftie who knows that a well-built home (and a good bridge) never goes out of style.

Kent Gerring
Project Manager

Kent Gerring
Project Manager
With four decades of carpentry under his belt, Kent is a true practitioner of the craft. As a Project Manager, he uses that long-view to ensure every detail of a project is executed with the precision and technical patience our clients expect.
Originally from Michigan, Kent is a lifelong Detroit Lions fan; a testament to his loyalty and grit. When he isn’t navigating the complexities of a job site, he’s likely pursuing his passion for the outdoors. Whether he’s hunting white-tail deer or out on the water fishing, Kent values the quiet discipline and preparation required for success. Above all, he is a family man who understands that a home is more than just a structure; it’s the place where life’s most important memories are built.

Rebecca Costanzo
Design Manager

Rebecca Costanzo
Design Manager
Although she’s been with the HomeMasons team for six months, Rebecca has quickly become a key strategist in our creative process. She approaches every project with an analytical curiosity; a trait likely fueled by her love for museums and her tendency to dive deep into nonfiction literature. For Rebecca, design isn’t just about the aesthetics; it’s about understanding the why behind a space to ensure the final result delivers both durability and personal joy.
When she isn’t at the drafting table or lost in a good book, she is often seeking inspiration through travel. Having explored the rich architectural histories of Italy and Mexico, she brings a global perspective on craftsmanship back to the Richmond homes we serve. Whether she’s analyzing a complex floor plan or studying historical design at a local museum, Rebecca ensures every HomeMasons project is built on a foundation of thoughtful, expert planning.

Rafal Kuczynski
Carpentry / Handyman

Rafal Kuczynski
Carpentry / Handyman
Rafal is a seasoned mainstay of our field team, bringing nearly a decade of technical know-how to every project he touches. In his 8 years with HomeMasons, he has developed a sharp instinct for home repairs, always prioritizing the long-term durability and craftsmanship that our clients have come to rely on.
When the tool belt comes off, Rafal is often found pursuing a different kind of patience on the water;he’s an avid fisherman who appreciates the quiet focus the sport requires. He is also a passionate world traveler with an impressive internal map, having explored the vast landscapes of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, as well as the historic beauty of Slovenia and Northern Europe. Whether he’s navigating the beaches of the Caribbean or catching up with friends at Sedona Taphouse, Rafal brings a worldly perspective and a steady, reliable energy to the HomeMasons family.

Brandon Mills
Handyman

Brandon Mills
Handyman
Brandon joined the HomeMasons team eight months ago, bringing with him the hands-on expertise of a true maker. He doesn’t just fix things; he builds them. In his time away from our clients’ homes, Brandon and his wife run a successful boutique woodworking business, crafting custom props and architectural pieces. This eye for detail and understanding of woodcraft makes him a natural fit for our precision mindset to home repairs.
When he isn’t at the workbench, Brandon is usually found on a different kind of field. A dedicated family man and a loyal Cowboys fan, he stays busy coaching his 12-year-old son in basketball and cheering on his 9-year-old daughter at her softball games. Whether he’s drawing up a play on the court or planning a well-deserved getaway to Cabo or Jamaica, Brandon approaches life with the same energy and precision he brings to every HomeMasons project.

Kevin Hextall
Lead Carpenter & On-Site Manager

Kevin Hextall
Lead Carpenter & On-Site Manager
In the five years Kevin has been with HomeMasons, he has proven that master craftsmanship is as much about patience and growth as it is about the right tools. As a Lead Carpenter and on-site manager, he is the steady hand ensuring every detail of a project is executed with precision and care.
That patient, methodical nature extends well beyond the job site. An avid gardener, Kevin spends his spare time nurturing a diverse collection of fruits and vegetables;a practice in technical patience that serves him well when navigating the complexities of a home remodel. When he isn’t in the dirt or leading our field crews, Kevin is a pillar of his church community, where he teaches and shares his passion for music.
A loyal fan of the Winnipeg Jets, Kevin also has an appreciation for the classic Red Green Show; fitting for a man who believes that while being handy is essential, doing the job right the first time is the only way to build.

Trenton Harris
Handyman

Trenton Harris
Handyman
Hailing from Arizona, Trenton brings a fresh perspective and a high-functioning mechanical mind to our Handyman division. With three years of experience as a practitioner in the field, he understands that a home’s longevity is built on attention to detail and a proper root-cause approach to every repair.
When he’s not troubleshooting solutions for our clients, Trenton is likely found deep under the hood of a car. He is currently tackling the technical challenge of turboing his 2002 325xi;a project that requires the same patience and precision he applies to home systems. A true fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Trenton balances his technical focus with a love for high-speed adventures, whether he’s refining his car collection or heading to the mountains for a snowboarding session.

Charles Haley
Production Manager

Charles Haley
Production Manager
In the world of high-end remodeling, coordination is everything, and Charles is the steady hand that keeps our production moving with precision. Joining the HomeMasons team two years ago, he brings a level of focus and discipline that is rarely seen but deeply appreciated by our clients and craftsmen alike.
That sense of discipline isn’t just professional;it’s a way of life. For over 30 years, Charles has been a dedicated martial artist, a practice that translates perfectly to the methodical mindset we value here. He approaches every job site with the same technical patience and respect for process that he brings to the dojo.
When the tool belts come off, Charles is a true student of the underdog story, citing Rocky and The Last Dragon as his favorite films. On the weekends, you’ll find him cheering on the Commanders or the Boston Celtics, bringing that same passion for the home team back to our office every Monday morning.

Amy Boschen
Office Manager

Amy Boschen
Office Manager
Ten years in, Amy remains the essential engine that keeps the HomeMasons office running at peak performance. While she handles the complexities of our day-to-day operations with professional ease, it’s her vibrant life outside the office that truly defines her.
Amy is a high-energy presence, whether she’s dominating on the tennis court or traveling across 15 states to reunite with her sorority sisters. At home, family is her true north; she is a proud mother to three sons;one currently navigating law school and another recently married this past August. However, her three grandchildren (ages 3, 5, and 9) might be her favorite project of all. When she isn’t visiting her mom in Sarasota, Florida, or keeping our team on track, Amy is likely enjoying the best of Richmond’s local scene or planning her next family adventure.
Our Mission
We are committed to being the premier builder of our customers’ dreams and will always strive to exceed their expectations. Through integrity and professionalism, we craft enduring value and lasting relationships.
